How I Got Over - 2021
One could say artifacts from another cosmic place. Rock-solid liquid.
Starting from fuel tanks, buried underground since the early 1950s, Middernacht&Alexander use this eroded iron, with remnants of earth and sand as the basis of their work. The layering process that follows, by adding resin, pigment, sand and fire gives this series its abstract structure. The minimal designs only emphasize this.
This piece was part of our Moving Traces 05 exhibition with Roxane Lahidji, Wendy Andreu, Justin Morin, in Atelier Ecru Gallery.
